Long Island Creek Site 3BBacterial

SamplesSamples were taken once a week for three weeks. Three samples plus a control were taken on each day observed. All plates were incubated for 24 +/- 1 hours. Incubated plates from Long Island Creek Site 3B. Colonies with blue or blue-red color surrounded by gas pockets are E.Coli. The increase in E. Coli on 12 June 2012 can be attributed to intermittent rainfall in the 24 hours before samples were taken. The Watershed Alliance of Sandy Spring (WASS) recommends that water with E. Coli counts over 500 should not be used for recreational use.
